Quebec strengthens measures to reduce accidents among foreign workers

In response to the increase in workplace accidents involving foreign workers, the Quebec government has recently announced additional funding to improve their safety at work. This initiative aims to enhance preventive measures and provide increased support to these vulnerable workers.

According to statistics, the number of foreign workers injured on the job is constantly increasing. In response, Quebec is seeking solutions to improve the working conditions of these temporary employees, including the revision of closed permits that limit their professional mobility.

In recent months, Quebec’s Minister of Labour, Jean Boulet, has been approached by groups demanding additional resources for non-unionized workers, including the Union des travailleuses et travailleurs accidentés ou malades (UTTAM), Immigrant Workers Center (IWC-CTI), the Conseil d’intervention pour l’accès des femmes au travail (CIAFT), and the Réseau d’aide aux travailleuses et travailleurs migrants agricoles du Québec (RATTMAQ).

The funding released by the government will allow the implementation of health and safety training programs, improvement of working conditions, and better access to support services for injured workers.
