Know Your Rights

You Have Rights!

The Labour Standards Act in Quebec has established minimum conditions of employment for ALL (minimum wage, paid vacation, sick leave, etc). These standards apply to YOU!

Domestic workers have the same right as all other Quebec workers (with minimal exceptions).

  • YOU are eligible for the health and safety benefits as a part-time or full-time worker.
  • YOU have the right to safe and healthy working conditions.
  • YOU have the right to a workplace free of harassment and discrimination.
  • YOU have the right to unionize at work without harassment or penalty.

These tools were developed as part of the project: Supporting (im)migrants and community workers: elements of understanding and intervention for Quebec community groups.

  1. Interactive map on the presence of Temporary Migrant Workers (TMW). This map is restricted. To access it, contact us at CRC_CITG@uqac.ca. In your e-mail, you must identify yourself and indicate the reasons why you wish to consult the map. We will then contact you and send you a password;
  2. Directory of resource organizations that offer their services to (im)migrants in all administrative regions of Quebec (except Montreal).
  3. Knowing your rights is essential! A guide for temporary migrant workers and advocates in Quebec.

They were produced with a grant from Fonds des services aux collectivités (FSC) du ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur du Québec (MES) with the help of Décanat de la recherche et de la création de l’Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC).
